Caffeine is a stimulant, and it’s the most commonly used drug in the world. Every day, millions consume it to increase wakefulness, alleviate fatigue, and improve concentration and focus, but caffeine has the potential to help in other areas too.

Caffeine doesn’t only help you feel more awake and give you energy, it can also improve other various aspects of brain function such as memory, mood, vigilance, energy levels and reaction times.

Physical Performance

Thanks to its stimulant properties, Caffeine can make fatty acid available to the body as fuel and increases the production of epinephrine in our blood to prepare our body for exertion. Given these effects, Caffeine can improve physical performance by 11-12%, on average.

Type 2 Diabetes

Coffee consumption is associated with a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, with studies indicating that those who drink the most coffee have a 23-50% lower risk of the disease, and in some cases, up to 67% lower. A comprehensive review of 18 studies involving nearly 458,000 individuals found that each daily cup of coffee was linked to a 7% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Caffeine is also associated with lowering the risks and fightins the effects of major diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, liver cirrhosis, depression, certain types of cancer, and strokes.
