Heart Health

29 human studies gound that takin a vitmain C supplement reduced systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in healthy adults.

Additionally, vitamin C may help reduce the risk factors for high blood pressure, high triglyceride or  good and bad cholesterol levels. An analysis of 9 studies with a combined 293,172 participants found that after 10 years, people who took at least 700 mg of vitamin C daily had a 25% lower risk of heart disease than those who did not take a vitamin C supplement.

Blood Health

Vitamin C may help reduce uric acid in the blood and, as a result, protect against conditions such as gout attacks. A study found that taking vitamin C supplement over 30 days significantly reduced blood uric acid, compared to a placebo.

Furthermore, studies have found that vitamin C assists in converting iron in a form that is easier to absorb, therefore help control risks of anemia.

Immunity

Vitamin C is involved in many parts of the immune system. It encourages the production of white blood cells, which help protect the body against infections and helps white blood cell function more effectively. It is also an essential part of the skin’s defense system as it stenghthens the skin’s barrier. 

Cognitive Health

Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant. As oxidative stress can increase the risks of  dementia and memory loss, and studies have shown that people with dementia may have lower blood levels of vitamin C.
